Adventuring much the best in Dueling Grounds Oaks

Racenews

Adventuring secured her second Stakes victory this year with an emphatic success in the US$500,000 Dueling Grounds Oaks at Kentucky Downs, USA, on Sunday, 5 September.

The Brad Cox-trained filly, winner of the Bourbonette Oaks on Tapeta at Turfway Park in March, broke alertly in the extended 10-furlong contest and was immediately sent on by Joel Rosario.

Adventuring raced wide down the back straight with the majority of the field, allowing Oliviaofthedesert to sneak up the inside and take up the running after the first three furlongs.

The Godolphin homebred regained the lead with five furlongs to race and increased her advantage approaching the final furlong before being eased near the line to score by two lengths.

Godolphin USA President Jimmy Bell said: “When it comes to horses for courses, Adventuring seemed to handle it exceptionally well, especially since this was obviously her first time over an undulating course – uphill, downhill, turns, and she just took to it like duck to water.

“She won with a little bit left in the tank, with her ears pricked, just as you like to see. The distance was certainly no problem and Joel gave her a lovely ride. He stayed up in the good part of the track.

“Brad thought the distance would be no problem whatsoever. She is just a very athletic, very balanced filly, and she showed that today.”
