Abu Qir Bay hoping to join select company in G2 Centaur Stakes

Abu Qir Bay aims to take another step forward in her nascent sprint career and emulate her sire Fine Needle with victory in the G2 Centaur Stakes on Sunday, 7 September.

Champion Sprinter Fine Needle captured two editions of the Hanshin contest during his superb career, while fellow Darley stallion Tower Of London followed up his 2019 success with victory in the G1 Sprinters Stakes.

Abu Qir Bay has already enjoyed a strong campaign, winning a Kokura Stakes race on her three-year-old return in January and storming home to take Kyoto’s G3 Aoi Stakes at the end of May.

The Tomoyasu Sakaguchi-trained filly ran another fine race against older opposition on her latest start at Kokura in July as she finished strongly to take a close third in the G3 Kitakyushu Kinen.
