A Preview of Godolphin Runners - Royal Ascot Day 4

Log Out Island, Buratino and Promising Run are set to feature in the G1 highlights on day four of Royal Ascot, Friday, June 17.

Log Out Island, Buratino and Promising Run are set to feature in the G1 highlights on day four of Royal Ascot, Friday, June 17.

Three-year-old colts Log Out Island (Richard Hannon/James Doyle) and Buratino (Mark Johnston/William Buick) have both been declared to run in the Commonwealth Stakes over six furlongs.

Log Out Island finished runner-up in the G2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot last year and returns to the Royal meeting on the back of a comprehensive all-the-way success in a Newbury Listed race on May 14.

Richard Hannon said: "Log Out Island is in good form and, based on his win at Newbury, I expect him to run very well. The ground conditions should suit him nicely."

Buratino, one of Europe's leading juveniles in 2015, is also scheduled to make a second appearance at Royal Ascot, having won the G2 Coventry Stakes 12 months, although his participation hinges on the soft ground drying out.

G3 Musidora Stakes third Promising Run (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle) takes on Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Jet Setting plus Nathra and Nemoralia, who were second and third in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, in the Coronation Stakes over a mile.

Saeed bin Suroor reported: "Promising Run is in good form. She ran well in Dubai and showed a good level of form on turf last year. There is a question mark about the ground but I am expecting a strong performance."

Also on Friday's card, Linguistic (John Gosden/William Buick) steps up to G2 level for the 12-furlong King Edward VII Stakes after twice finishing second in Listed races at Chester and Newmarket.

John Gosden said: "The ground and trip should suit Linguistic and I am hopeful that the addition of blinkers will help focus his mind."

Progressive juvenile filly Romantic View (Charlie Appleby/William Buick), an impressive winner at Goodwood on her latest outing, lines up in the G3 Albany Stakes over six furlongs, while Twilight Payment (Jim Bolger/Kevin Manning) goes in the two-mile Listed Queen's Vase.

Charlie Appleby said: "Romantic View has progressed nicely from her Goodwood win. The ground should hopefully not be a problem as she is from the family of Manduro. I expect her to be competitive."

Jim Bolger commented: "This race has come around quickly for Twilight Payment, as he is relatively inexperienced. I am optimistic about him staying the trip and he deserves to take his chance in a race of this quality."

Elite Army (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle) won the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot in 2014 and the five-year-old aims for third course win over a mile and a half under top-weight in the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap.

He is joined in the race by the Charlie Appleby-trained pair of Rare Rhythm (William Buick) and A Soldier's Life (James McDonald).

Saeed bin Suroor said: "Elite Army was successful at Royal Ascot two years ago and won in good style at the same course on his first run of this season. He has been working strongly at home and both the ground and trip will suit."

Charlie Appleby added: "A Soldier's Life should appreciate the conditions. It will be his first run for us but he has form on soft ground in France. We are hoping to learn more about him from this run.

"Rare Rhythm has proven form on soft going and he has made good progress from three to four. This is a tough assignment for his first start of the season, but I am hoping that he will give a good account of himself."
