Refuse To Bend proved a top-class colt for Dermot Weld at two and three; won the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh on his second start as a juvenile in 2002 and claimed a convincing Group 1 success in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket the following spring; went on to win the Group 3 Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown later that same season; he won his first race for Godolphin when taking the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2004, beating a field containing the likes of Soviet Song and Six Perfections, and followed up over the longer trip in the Group 1 Eclipse at Sandown; he was fully effective over 1m to 1m2f and acted on any ground; he was retired to stud that autumn as the winner of four Group 1 races
