Medaaly ended a superb juvenile season with victory in the 1996 Group 1 Racing Post Trophy, finishing ahead of Poteen and future Derby winner Benny The Dip; reportedly chipped a bone in a knee during that battling success and was never able to recapture the form of the Doncaster victory; had already proved himself a progressive and classy 2yo; lost his maiden tag at the second time of asking when landing a competitive Doncaster maiden in July and followed that up with a facile victory in the Charterhouse Conditions Stakes over 1m at Sandown; looked destined for a bright future prior to his injury but raced only twice more after his Racing Post success; died at stud at the age of 17
