Unraced as a juvenile, he proved a classy and progressive 3yo for Michael Jarvis, winning his first three starts and finishing sixth in the 2000 St Leger; subsequently joined Saeed bin Suroor at the start of his 4yo career and landed the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup on his first start for Godolphin; the following year he proved himself to be a stayer of the highest order winning four of his six starts, winning the Group 1 Deutschland Preis in Dusseldorf in July and the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Baden before finishing a wonderful career when quickening well to beat top 3yos Sulamani and High Chaparral in the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in a memorable race; he was retired to stud after that fine performance; fully effective between 1m4f-1m6f; liked good ground; often wore headgear
