Granting Cody’s Wish

In 2018, Godolphin, sponsored the family of Cody Dorman at Keeneland's Make-A-Wish Day. Dorman suffers from the rare genetic disorder Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome.

It was during a tour of Godolphin’s Gainsborough Farm location in Versailles, Kentucky, that Dorman and the then unnamed Cody’s Wish developed quite a special bond. In fact, the foal actually walked over to Dorman and put his head in his lap.

Following that meeting, Mary Bourne, who works at Gainsborough, was inspired and named him “Cody’s Wish”.

Although Cody’s Wish ran third in his first three starts at Saratoga, it was almost as though he was waiting for Dorman to be there when he won. Ironically, after Cody’s Wish shipped to Kentucky last fall, Dorman was on hand for his first three career wins at Churchill Downs.

“This went from a wish and turned into a dream come true,” said Kelly Dorman, father of Cody.

Since then, Cody’s Wish has placed second in a G3 Stakes, won the G3 Westchester Handicap at Belmont by five lengths on May 7, and last out captured the Hanshin Stakes at Churchill Downs on July 4. Cody and his parents were once again in the winner's circle along with the team from Godolphin.
