Godolphin was founded by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the autumn of 1992. Godolphin's international operation began in 1994.

Godolphin's headquarters and international training facilities are located in Dubai, UAE at Al Quoz Stables and Godolphin Marmoom Stables. The operation's summer base is situated in Newmarket, England at Godolphin Stables and Moulton Paddocks Stables. Godolphin also has a stable in Sydney, Australia.

The stable has received the Champion Owner accolade at the Dubai World Cup Carnival on seven successive occasions - 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014.

Godolphin has been crowned Champion Owner in the United Kingdom on nine occasions - 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2012 & 2013.

For the first time in 2009, Godolphin won the Eclipse Award for Champion Owner in the USA. The stable received their second Eclipse Award for Champion Owner in the USA in 2012.

The stable has been Champion Owner in Ireland in 1994 and 1998.

Godolphin was crowned Champion Owner in Germany in 2003 and 2010.

Godolphin's most successful years numerically are 2013 (228 winners), 2012 (214 winners), 2009 (202 winners) and 2010 (200 winners).
