Birr Castle takes third in G2 Prix d’Harcourt

Racenews

Birr Castle put up another solid Group-race performance with a battling third on his four-year-old return in the G2 Prix d’Harcourt at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, 7 April.

The Cloth Of Stars colt, who filled the same spot in last season’s G2 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano and G3 Prix du Prince d’Orange, was prominent throughout and soon tracked Mansour in second.

Having taken up the running two furlongs out, Birr Castle could not go with Zarakem and Horizon Dore after the duo swept past the Andre Fabre-trained runner approaching the final furlong.

Birr Castle stuck to his task for Mickael Barzalona on the heavy ground, going down by two and a quarter lengths in total.
