Morris Dancer third on comeback in G3 Jersey Stakes

Morris Dancer shaped with plenty of promise on his first start for 10 months as he stayed on to take third in the G3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday, 20 June. 

Making his first appearance since winning Salisbury’s Listed Stonehenge Stakes by four lengths, the Palace Pier homebred was held up by Benoit de la Sayette at the rear of the main group of runners that came up the centre of the course. 

Morris Dancer travelled well into the race approaching the final quarter-mile and the John & Thady Gosden-trained colt stayed on between runners to take second with just under half a furlong to race. 

Thesecretadversary and Take Charge Star quickened away from the field inside the final furlong to fight out a close finish, with four and a half lengths back to Morris Dancer.
