Fortuna Diamond gains G3 Black Type at Hamburg

Fortuna Diamond performed with credit on her Pattern-race debut as she finished second in the G3 Hamburger Stuten Meile in Germany on Sunday, 5 July. 

The Night Of Thunder filly was previously unbeaten for Henri-Alex Pantall, winning twice in the French provinces before a taking success in the Listed Prix Volterra at Longchamp last month. 

Settled in mid-division of the nine runners by Tony Piccone, Fortuna Diamond was asked to improve as the field made a beeline for the stands’ rail at the top of the home straight. 

Sunlit Uplands stole a march as Fortuna Diamond manoeuvred between horses, with the British raider staying on strongly to score by three lengths.
