Blue Point set for Diamond Jubilee Stakes

Racenews

Blue Point will aim for a rare G1 sprint double this week at Royal Ascot, UK, after being declared for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saturday, 22 June.

The Charlie Appleby-trained five-year-old returns to six furlongs following an impressive second straight victory in the G1 King’s Stand Stakes over a furlong shorter on Tuesday, 18 June.

Charlie Appleby said: “We were delighted with Blue Point’s performance on Tuesday and he seems to bring his A-game to Ascot.

“He came out of the race well and, from what we have seen so far, the signs have been good.

“His wellbeing will continue to be monitored ahead of Saturday’s race, but we felt that he deserved the chance to win another G1 at Ascot.”

Inns Of Court, trained by Andre Fabre, was not declared for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and will be aimed at the G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest over six and a half furlongs at Deauville, France, on Sunday, 4 August.
