Beiwacht lands second G1 success with All Aged Stakes win
Beiwacht has underlined the extraordinary depth of Godolphin’s crop of three-year-olds with a scintillating win against established sprinters in the Group One All Aged Stakes at Randwick.
Adding another layer of appeal to his future on Darley’s stallion roster, Beiwacht gave his older rivals a galloping lesson in the 1,400m weight-for-age contest that closed out the Sydney autumn carnival.
The only three-year-old in the race, Beiwacht (Bivouac) annexed a second career G1 after jumping to the front and dictating the terms of the race under veteran jockey Nash Rawiller.
Beiwacht set up a winning break soon after the field containing 11 G1 winners swung for home, and he was never in danger of defeat, winning by a length.
It was the second G1 win of the colt’s 13-start career that now includes three overall victories and four placings and earnings that have nudged past $2 million.
Not long after joining the stable of premier trainer Chris Waller, Beiwacht won the established stallion-making race, the G1 Golden Rose, over 1,400m earlier in the Australian racing season.
In winning for the first time since the Golden Rose, Beiwacht brought up Godolphin’s 10th G1 success in Australia for 2025/26.
Tempted (Street Boss), Tentyris (Street Boss), Observer (Ghaiyyath) and Attica (Lonhro) are also members of the Godolphin three-year-old squad who have contributed to that haul.
Beiwacht joins an illustrious group to topple their All Aged rivals, becoming the ninth three-year-old to win the sprint since 1995.
It was an achievement not lost on Waller as Beiwacht recaptured his best spring form when it counted most.
“He's a very special horse. He did it in the Golden Rose as well and broke the Rosehill track record,” Waller said.
“He's a pretty talented young colt. So to beat the older horses, and this year's All Aged Stakes, I think, like the rest of the carnival, it's a very special field, it's good horses. He gets the accolades today.”
Waller said there were endless possibilities for Beiwacht to advance his racing record even further before he is retired to stud.
“There’s lots of options, isn’t there? That's the beauty of racing in Australia - and Sydney racing,” he said.
“We're just so lucky to be racing in this era.
“I will have a chat to Godolphin. They've been a great team to work with, and I love their system.
“It's been an honour to be training for them.”
Rawiller, who was having his first race ride on Beiwacht, was full of praise for the colt after Waller sensed the veteran’s style in the saddle would make a difference.
“He just travelled beautifully, and he ran the sectionals and kicked off that,” Rawiller said.
“You know what it's like when you're on a really good horse and you know you're home.
“I just love the way he lengthened his stride again when I asked him. I was just happy to enjoy it.”
Beiwacht gave Godolphin its second All Aged win in the past five editions after Cascadian saluted in 2022.
