ALLYBAR STRIKES IN AL TAYER MOTORS TROPHY

Allybar wins the Al Tayer Motors Trophy on his Godolphin debut

Allybar made an impressive winning debut for Godolphin when comfortably taking the Al Tayer Motors Trophy Handicap at Meydan on Friday, February 5.

The four-year-old King’s Best colt, encountering a Tapeta surface for the first time in the 10-furlong contest, was slightly slowly into stride and raced keenly in second as Zulu Chief set a sedate early pace.

He moved up to deliver his challenge under Ahmed Ajtebi with half a mile left to race and pressed the Mike de Kock-trained runner for the lead turning for home.

Allybar was asked to extend entering the straight and he quickened clear before being eased near the line, beating the staying-on Presvis by seven and a half lengths in 2m 14.37s.

The Godolphin trained Saeed bin Suroor said: “I was very happy with Allybar’s performance tonight.

“Ahmed had the horse in a good position early in the race and when he asked him to quicken the horse did it really well.”

Ahmed Ajtebi added: “That was good. It's great to ride a winner for Godolphin at Meydan and any jockey would be happy to be riding these horses.”
