Flashing made all to record an easy success in the nine-furlong Grade One Gazelle Stakes on dirt at Aqueduct, USA, on Saturday, November 28.
It was a second Grade One victory of the year for the three-year-old daughter of A P Indy following her triumph in the Grade One Test Stakes over seven furlongs at Saratoga on August 8.
She broke smartly under Richard Migliore and led two off the inside rail, with her jockey dictating the pace.
The first quarter-mile was completed in a modest 24.24s and the half-mile in 48.73s.
Richard Migliore quickened up the pace on the far side and asked Flashing to extend turning for home.
The Godolphin filly had a two-length advantage entering the straight which she soon increased.
Flashing went clear to win by four and a quarter lengths in 1m 50.94s
The Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor commented: “Flashing won easily.
“The filly has improved over time and this was her best performance ever.
“She won well. The nine furlongs was the perfect distance for her. We are going to talk it over and maybe she will race next year.”
Flashing was back on dirt for the first time after the Test Stakes, having run twice on artificial surfaces.
Richard Migliore added: “When she gets comfortable and in a rhythm, she seems like she can run forever.
“I knew at the three-eighths pole she was going to be very tough. The two times I rode her on conventional dirt I won Grade Ones on her, so obviously I love her.”
This was the 13th Group/Grade One victory for Godolphin this year and the third success in the Gazelle Stakes following on from Imperial Gesture (2002) and Music Note (2008).
