Horseracing is all about the staging of exciting races, which captivate racegoers and television viewers around the world.
Racing has evolved differently from country to country but almost everywhere there are handicap contests. A handicap race is a type of race in which horses carry different weights according to their ability, with the best carrying more weight. The aim of a handicap is to give each horse an equal chance. Horses are allocated varying weights by an official whose job is to assess the ability of every horse in that jurisdiction.
The skill of the handicapper(s) is the key to making such races competitive and by using the headings in the navigation bar, located on the left hand side of the page, we hope to explain this more clearly.
